Stars On Ice

On Saturday, Mike and I went on a date. It was really a lot of fun. For Valentine's Day, he got me tickets to stars on ice. It was a lot of fun to see ice skaters in person. When I was little, I wanted to ice skate so bad, and watched it every chance I got. It was cool to see some of the skaters that I loved watching.
It definitely got a bit cheesy at times, and for the record ice skating to Usher's "Love in this club" doensn't make you cool. But it was so fun and they are definitely talented skaters. Ok, they are all national and olympic champions, so it was pretty cool.
PS
When in public, it is very polite to keep dreams of walking in on your husband with your best friend private.
And to the girl who sat behind me: your boy friend doesn't like you. You keep loving on him, and he doesn't miss you when he' gone for a month to South Africa. After a year, I would hope a pretty 30 year old could figure that out. (Even though I had to use the restroom super bad uring the intermission, staying to liste to her conversation was amost worth wetting my pants on the way to the restroom.)

13 for Thursday (all about me, and probably some of the girls, too)

1. This looks pretty similar to the beach at our hotel in Costa Rica on our honeymooon. I am aching to go there again. It was beautiful. And I want to go somewhere for a few days with just Mike.
2. I hate the show Happy Endings, but I usually laugh and almost always watch it.... Bummer.
3. I love baking. Bread, cakes, cookies, cupcakes, especially with Addie.
4. I love to read and usually will finish a book in about 3 or 4 days, but I am embarassed to go back to the library, and I am still too embarassed to say why. Someday.
5. I love cleaning the bathroom, but that's where my love for cleaning stops, but I do it because I am much more at peace when my home is clean and organized. And if Mike really wants me to purge, I just have to watch a commercial for Hoarders.
6. I hate having hair much past my shoulders. I think it looks so pretty on other people, but I just get this itch and it has to go. My longest layer recently was down betwen my shoulder blades...and Saturday I hacked it off, and now its sits just above my shoulders. It felt so good to cut it all off.
7. I am feeling the same itch towards Addie's hair....a bob would be so cute on her. Her hair is down to the middle of her back.
8. I am going out tonight with a gal-pal and I couldn't be more excited.
9. My husband kicks A. Even when I am grouchy, he still is so sweet. And the other morning, after getting less than 5 hours of crummy sleep, he stayed home from work for a bit to let me get a few more Zzz's.
10. I love cuddling with Leah, but do not enjoy sleeping with her any more (did I just here my mom cheer??), especially when she is sick (see number 9).
11. I love running. Ok, that's a lie, but I love the high I get after, so I keep running and working out. Even going for long walks during the day with the girls sure helps.
12. I hate months January through April. All I want is MAY. In my head, May is summer. And summer goes through September.
13. My biggest pet peeve is the crunchy noise from people eating....even if mouths are closed. Chewing ice, tortilla chips, and those bagel chips in Gardeto's snack mix (all things I enjoy) drive me nuts when coming from other people. But that hate is only magnified if the mouth is open and it is only a matter of seconds before I turn and spit venom at you.

Have a nice day :-)

Dear girls

You two are the cutest things ever. I love when you play together, like you've been doing all morning. It brings joy to my heart.
Adds: you do the funniest things. It is so hard to stay mad at you even when you ruin my lipstick, pull all my clothes of the shelf, don't eat very good lunch and spill your juice. Your little croaky voice makes everything you say so cute.
Leah. Leah, Leah, Leah. Sorry about your fever and that I let you cry last night. It really isn't fun to be up until 1:30 then up evey two hours and awake by 6, but you are so adorable that I'll let it slide just this once (maybe very other time too).
In the mean time, sorry if mom is a bit cranky; she still loves you very much. Feel better soon.
Love,
Mom

7 MONTHS!

Leah is seven months old today. I can't even believe how fast time has gone.
Little Leah is so sweet. Although she doesn't sleep well, she is getting better.
She can sit. She can almost put herself up on the sitting position. She is almost crawling that it kills me to see her struggle. She remains a great eater. She nurses every 3 hours and she loves took have cereal, bananas, and sweet potatoes. Also, she is very attached to me right now. It makes leaving her very hard. She reached for me the other day; I seriously almost cried.

Pic one: Me and Leah (forgive the blurriness, but I thought it was cute and you can kinda see my new hair cut... 4ish inches are gone!
Pic two: just a cute girl.

Picture one: my morning means being a nurse. Addie is sick and that means helping her cart around all her favorites. Today will include lots of movies and tylenol.

Picture two: i just think she is adorable. Leah was up until 2 (thank heaven mike stayed up with her; he is amazing). We will have lots of cuddles today.

I Enjoyed this one

I read this article and I thought it was well done. The part I thought very interesting was Mr. Anonymous commenter (they are sure brave behind a blank face). My favorite part was his reasoning on why other churches don't participate in proxy baptisms : "they try not to think about it." How sad!

I get to go tonight for an endowment session. I am so excited. I love the feelings I have when I attend. I have had some great experiences in th Seattle Temple and I love it there. I am so grateful to know that life exists beyond this earth and I can have my family forever.

1. This is Addie shortly after getting ready. She wasn't too excited about the dress I picked for her. Or I didn't let her watch a movie. Or eat candy. I know, meanest mom ever.
2. Seriously Leah, just crawl. I am so excited for you to finally do it!
3. Leah reached for me for te first time today!! My heart melted.
4. Addie told me to leave her alone....when have I ever said that to her??
5. I am borrowing my friends phone until I can upgrade....its way nicer than my beat up black berry.
6. Mike and I are going to the temple tomorrow night. I haven't been through a session in more than a year. In fact I haven't even been since last may when I was 7 months pregnant. I have a pretty cute reason though.
7. I am excited for a night out with just Mike!
8. Mike is so great wih the girls. I am so lucky to have him as my baby daddy.
9. Typing "baby daddy" when you are amost asleep looks strange and like you mixed up your b's and d's.
10. I am so looking forward to our next nicest day.... We will go to the zoo.
11. Bleh.....I don't have 13 things to say.
12. Addie is getting a cold and I hope it holds out long enough for me to go out tomorrow.
13. Adds is also teething. She is getting her 2 year molars and they are a killer. Lots of tear, tylenol, and raspberries fo that little girl.

Reason Number 5 that I Love Mike

Before you think, "What the...you both have a love for Lady Gaga??"

No.

Last night, he had no intention of turning the channel to CBS for the Grammys. But when all that was on was pretend news about Seattle getting an NBA or NHL team and people eating bull testicles on Fear Factor (who the heck thought up those crazy-a ideas???), we turned it to the Grammys.
My thoughts: Go Adele. Jennifer Hudson did a great job. T-Swift, I loved her straight hair. Let's not talk about Rhiana or Niki Manaj.
Ok...back to why I love Mike. During the Glen Campbell tribute, they showed Miranda Lambert (I think she is gorgeous). She was seated next to Lady Gaga. My first thought was, "Poor Miranda... Those are two opposite ends of the spectrum." My next thought was honestly this, "I wonder what Lady Gaga smells like and how Miranda hasn't dry heaved yet." I was coming to the conclusion that she smelled like a mixture of latex, old people, booze and nasty powdery perfume (you know which one) to cover it up, and Mike had this look on his face.
"What are you thinking?" It was during Rhinestone Cowboy, and he is not a country music fan.

His answer made me laugh.

"I was just wondering what Lady Gaga smelled like."

WHAT??? How were we having THAT same thought??

But that is one of the reasons I love him. We think the same things all the time. This is not an isolated experience, but surely the funniest one yet.

Yesterday, we went to the zoo. Both girls were so great. It was a beautiful morning, too. On our way home, both girls fell asleep and to me, there is nothing sweeter than a sleeping babe. As I looked at those beauties, I felt so grateful to be their mom.

Life isn't easy around here, and I am learning a lot every day. Mostly, I am learning to be patient. 2 year olds are stubborn (at least mine is) and 6 1/2 month olds don't like to be sleep trained (its been a week of lots of tears). Mike has had to work a ton recently. So during all this time, I am learning patience.

These girls bring so much joy to our lives. Seeing them play and cuddle and Addie giving kisses to her sister just melts my heart. So, while we have our moments that are slightly trying, I do take time to relish a few precious moments each day. See that picture up there? That was just one from today.

Wednesday

I took care of a slightly embarrassing library fee (story maybe later if I can swallow my pride).
Tried working out, but quit because I had a fussy baby.
Tried to feed said baby.
Laid her down for a nap.
Took a shower (while baby cried) and did my hair instead of finishing my work out (while baby watched a movie).
Put baby to sleep (sleep training is not going as I planned).
And now I am going to sleep.
And probably out to dinner tonight, because I want to.
