BABY SHOWER

I had a baby shower at work yesterday and it was really nice. Very laid back, no goofy games, cake and presents. I got the COOLEST gift from Lauren Pelton. She gave me "Baby Sushi."

I guess that I have been complaining a bit at work because I can't have sushi right now. Lauren remembered and came up with this! There are little wash cloths, mittens, socks and onsies. I thought this was a very good idea. I might steal it for the next baby shower...

TODAY IS THE DAY!

Today is the day that we finally get the keys to our new house. After a few minor road blocks, difficult people and a bit too much stress…

WE GET THE KEYS TO OUR NEW HOUSE TONIGHT!

On Wednesday evening we signed all the papers. I was amazed at how many there were. I had to sign my full name. I don’t know who thought that was a good idea, but it isn’t. I have a long name since getting married. You try signing Alyse Kristine Huskinson about 100 times. On some documents, I even accidentally signed my maiden name, Doty… woops. Turns out they like your legal name on those.

We are really excited.

Last night we went to our first birthing class.

When I registered, I received a letter in the mail telling us what to bring to class: water, snacks, two pillows and wear comfortable clothing. Last night, after scrambling around the house to get ready to go, cleaning up dinner, entertaining the missionaries for about twenty minutes, we grabbed our water, snacks and two pillows. As we pulled up to the hospital, we decided that we felt like dorks carrying around two pillows, so we “forgot” them in the car. We had no idea where we were going, but then we saw about six other pregnant women, and followed them. The actual class was pretty informative. We were lucky enough to watch the Miracle of Life video... Mike was a tad grossed out, but I don’t think he really knew what happened during labor and birth, so it was good for him.

THINGS THAT WERE FUNNY TO US:
o Birthing ball (Mike wanted to play with it all evening)
o The lady next to us kept burping, seriously it was every three minutes
o Each woman wore yoga pants but me. Next week I am wearing

We are in the final process of getting everything closed for our house. I am getting really excited. Closing date is set for July 24th and it looks like everything is going smoothly!

The house is what we were looking for, just in a townhouse form. The yard is huge, as you can see. Mike is super excited about the cherry tree in the back yard. I am just excited to have a little yard. And I never thought it would come to this, but I am excited about my kitchen. It is so much bigger than the dinky one that is in the apartment that we have.

There is our little house! We are getting really excited. I have been so anxious to get a room set up for the baby and have been waiting until we have a place. Now I can. The best part is, we do not have to move until we want, well probably in our case, need to.

First one...

So, I have had a ton of people ask me if I blog. My answer is always the same, “No, but I Facebook.” Facebook to me is just a lame excuse for keeping in touch with classmates from junior high, and let’s be honest: I am not too interested in the fact that a person that I have not seen for ten years has finally planted their first herb garden yesterday. Maybe a blog will keep me in touch better with my family (you know, the ones that you should really keep tabs on…). So, today I decided to jump on the band wagon and create one. But here is an update on our little family!
We are due with baby number one two months from yesterday; eight weeks, six days to go. (Who’s counting down?) I am excited; Mike is too. We are having a little girl. We don’t have a name picked out for her. There are four that we like, but we aren’t telling and we will know her name when we see her – we won’t leave the hospital with out a name for her.
I think we are moving…. More details to come on that later. Closing date is on July 24th, and we are just praying that everything will go smoothly.
So, that is it for my first attempt at a blog. This may be lame, but there will be more to come with the baby, the house and life generally picking up again. Summer seems to be the busy time for us, so hopefully later on we will not sound so boring.
