Gone

I'm laying here in a hotel in Missoula, Montana. Unable to sleep while my 3 loves snore around me.

The past few days have been emotional. Packing up everything we own is hard. Seeing my cute home empty is hard. Seeing my children struggle as their beds and toys get packed up is hard. Having friends help us out at the last minute is a blessing. Staying at a friend's comfortable home was relaxing. Growing closer as a couple is immeasurable. So many ups and downs, and I'm only in the middle of the ride. We've got aways to go before things settle down.

I'm so hopeful, though! Don't think that just because I'm emotional doesn't mean I'm not excited to get into our home (and not move again for 30 years), start a new chapter and make some great memories. I am! I just want to be in my own bed right now.

Sinking in...

Even with the packing we've been doing, I don't think the fact that I'm moving to Idaho has really set in.
Until today.

Last night we had a dinner with some friends. It was so great to catch up and hard to say goodbye. But it was fun! Things were light and  I didn't feel the weight of our move at all. But jumping on a trampoline with 3 adults and 4 kids makes sure that you can't be too serious.

Today during sharing time in primary, it hit... like a wave. And if I didn't have  few other pressing matters to take care of (like a crazy homeless man that wandered into the church building and we were running around keeping those kids of ours safe.... but that's another story), that wave would have swept me out to sea and I would have drowned. The primary president was teaching. She stood up and said some kind words and gave me some flowers and a candle. I started to cry, but was quickly bombarded with questions from 25 sweet kids. "Where are you going?" "How will you get there?" "Can we see your car?" They all thought it was pretty cool that we are going to live on a farm. "What do you grow?" "Potatoes and wheat." "And carrots!"

I've been in this primary for two and a half wonderful years. I have grown and I've meet some great people.
Tonight, Torri, the primary president, had a dinner for us with two other families that I feel so lucky to know. We were all put in the presidency last fall and had some big changes come quickly to our ward. I loved our 4 hour meetings with cupcakes.
I won't see two of those women for a while. One is having a baby on Friday and and the other doesn't live around the corner any more. (I do get to see one tomorrow night, yay!)

The gravity of that hit me on the way home. I felt like it took me a while to really feel apart of the ward, now, that does not mean I don't like my ward! I do! We have some of the best members of the church in Brier. But it takes a while to get into the groove and feel apart of things. I was able to work with these ladies, and I really feel like I have some great friends. Well, I realized all of that and started crying. I am  sad I won't see them for a long time, but I am so much better for having known them.

But this week is going to be tough, I think. Packing up our belongings and leaving our first home is hard. I have lived here for 13 years, and I love it. But we are so excited for our new chapter to start.

I can't believe we are going in 10 days....

Updates!

I spent last week at my parents house in Vancouver. It was really great to spend time with them!
My cousin and his wife and their adorable toddler were sealed in the Portland Temple and our grandpa (see picture #3) was able to perform that. It was such a sweet experience and I am so glad I was able to be apart of it.
I also got a night away with Mike! We headed to the Oregon Coast on Friday night. I was so excited to sleep in, but I noticed a large spider in our room just before falling asleep, and I woke up a bit early and couldn't fall back to sleep because the spider was gone and I became a little paranoid.... dang you, spider! We got so lucky and had fabulous weather! We shopped around Seaside a little then finished our day at Canon Beach. This was the first time I actually went on Haystack Rock. It was low tide and the tide pools were so amazing! So many starfish, anemones, hermit crabs and sea cucumbers. I loved it! I think that I mostly loved a day away from real life and spending it with Mike. Seriously, he's my best friend and we just enjoyed each other's company.
The girls are so stinking cute. Leah has really started using words. She says no, Mickey, dress, shoe, bed (beh), milk (mih), Ariel (a-yo), mama, dada, Leah (le-la). Addie says and does some of the funniest things. Today I looked over at her and she was scratching her face with her foot. I asked her what in the world was she doing. Her reply? "I'm just scratching like a dog." Like its no big deal. She's very into acting like animals lately, it just cracks me up. Those two girls love to play together (and fight over toys...) but it is so sweet to watch them interact and become friends.
We are getting really excited to move, IN TWO WEEKS!! I am excited for a change of pace. Like way less rain (cabin fever....). I'm excited to see my new house, but at the same time, I'm sad to leave. I have some great friends here and I love my house and the Pacific northwest is really all I know. Addie gets sad when we talk about moving. She is so worried that she won't have her blanket, or flower pillow; it breaks my heart a little. But I know that Idaho is where we should be. Did I mention that I am excited?!?
