Mother of the Year

I think I deserve this award.
On the 16th of August, we took our first ambulance ride. On Wednesday, I had to make my first call to poison control. Leah licked a dishwasher detergent packet, the shell dissolved and she swallowed some powdered soap and was mad. It really irritated her mouth for a bit.
Today, she stood up in the tub and slipped and hit her head pretty hard. She did the same kind of thing tonight that she did when she fell at my parents house. She lets out a cry and keeps letting one out without inhaling. Turns out that will cause her to pass out, which she luckily didn't tonight. But I think that is why she passed out at my parents and not from hitting her head. But back to tonight. So she almost passed out again. I had all the worst thoughts going through my head. I was home alone with the girls and I got very nervous. Luckily, she is fine.
I also feel like I can't quite catch my breath before the next day, coupled with my girls waking up super early lately, and sprinkled with Leah's special spice for life, we have had some long days. I haven't done a lot of fun things with my kids (I have utilized the mall play spot and yes I know it smells like feet), dinners have been pretty lame (we ate on paper plates tonight), and I have forced my 3 year old to nap so I could also.  Needless to say, I am very excited for Mike to have a 3 day weekend. Hopefully, we can relax and get a few things done around here.
And breath.

Addie is 3

Look at my teeny Addie and my big Addie. She loved princesses when she was 2 months old!
Addie loves:
Disney princesses
Sweets
Fries
Apples
Smoothies
Blackberries
Singing
Dancing
Cuddling
Skiing

Funny (sassy) things she says:
I don't understand
Mom has boogies (boobies)
Shut up (which we are trying to curb....)
I need to wave bye-bye with my booty
Jesus prays
I want to get baptized and married in the temple.
Oh, I'm sorry.
Good morning mom! I sleeped good! (Always at 6:15)

Addie is so sweet. Leah loves playing and following her around. I really think 3 is going to be a lot of fun. I am excited for ballet, skiing and her starting Sunbeams in January.

The day she was born was amazing and sometimes I still can't believe she's mine. She is so smart and beautiful. We love her so much!

My Grandparents

Can I just say how cute my grandparents are? They have been married for about 65 years (someone correct me if I'm wrong). I think about them all the time. They are very special to me.
Growing up we only lived a mile from them and spent lots of time with them. They taught me a lot. Like how to be a good person, how to love the Gospel, how to love yourself but still give everything to others, that you should always look your best and the importance of family.
My grandpa performed my wedding ceremony and it was beautiful to have him there. I went to my cousins wedding recently and my grandpa performed that ceremony as well. It was so great to listen to him again and be in the temple with lots of my family.
I love my grandparents and want to be very much like them when Mike and I are old.

Also, my grandma taught me to never forget my teeth at home when we go out to eat or maybe just not announce it. Oh, how I love them.

A bit of excitement

Last night, instead of putting my girls to bed early and going to Krispy Kreme with my siblings, we went to the ER.
After a long, hot evening, I had given Leah a bath and we were going downstairs to get her s snack and a sippy of milk. I was a couple steps above her. I turned my back for a second and heard a thud..... I looked down and immediately picked her up. She quickly lost consciousness, and it scared me sooooo bad. Scared doesn't even begin to describe how I felt. I was holding my limp baby in my arms and imagining the absolute worst.
My mom called 911 and my dad quickly gave Leah a blessing. She started to look around and cry and her color came back.
The firefighters and the EMTs came within 2 minutes and looked at her and quickly began reassuring me that she would be fine. I was literally wreck. They were so kind to me. My brother grabbed the car seat to put in the ambulance. By this time Leah had realized that a lot of excitement was going on and was clinging to me. Addie had no idea what was going on and started to freak out. My youngest sister took her to another room. My brother and I rode in the ambulance to the hospital, without the siren. While on our way, Leah perked up and started chatting with the EMT.
Upon our arrival to the emergency room, we were wheeled very quickly to the pediatric part of it. The nurses and doctor came in pretty quickly to check her out. She was nervous around all the people. As the doctor checked her, I became more calm. She had no broken bones, no bumps or lumps, her eyes were reacting, and no throwing up. The doctor said a CT scan was pretty unnecessary based on how she was doing. We stayed for another hour or so for observation, and then we were discharged. We finally left the hospital about 11. I had to wake her up in the middle of the night, but she has been doing just fine today.
So, we added some flavor to our quiet week at my parents. Mike is at home and it was hard for me to not have him here, but everything turned out fine.

Leah and nursing

We are pretty much done nursing! I am proud and sad at the same time. Over two weeks I worked us down to just once a day. On Friday, I nursed her for what I hoped was my last time. We went on our trip and by Saturday night I needed some relief to sleep, so I pumped a bit and then woke up Sunday morning and decided we needed to nurse again. So, we'll see how long we can go this time before I need to nurse her. But I am sad because I miss my mandatory cuddles with Leah. But also I am so proud of myself for making it one year!!

Anniversary Weekend

Our anniversary isn't for several more days, but due to scheduling, we used this weekend to get away.
Mike arranged everything. We went up to Index, Washington and stayed at a bed and breakfast. We had more of a suite with a living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, and the bedroom. We also had a private garden and a hot tub. The bed and breakfast was run by a woman named Moon and she loved antiques. At one point I asked Mike, "Aren't you just the littlest bit afraid that this place is haunted?" He just laughed at me. It was really nice and comfortable though.
We used the grill and had some great steak and zucchini for dinner. We had to drive down to the main highway to get reception to call to check on the girls and they were to busy playing to want to talk. We then relaxed the rest of the night and passed out on the couch.
We slept in until 9, which was beautiful.
After we ate, we rode our bikes around town. We checked out and headed back to get our girls. They had so much fun at their princess sleep over. There is a great couple we know from church who watched Addie and Leah. That love our girls and our girls love them.

Celebrating 4 years of a fun marriage couldn't have come at a better time. I know we both needed a small break. I love Mike and the life he has given me. He pushes me to be more adventurous (skiing and mountain biking) and I am looking forward to many more adventures together.
