Big girl bed

We moved Addie to her big girl bed!!

A few months ago, we bought a full bed set and had to move the twin bed to Addie's room. Lately, she has been pretty interested in it, so we thought, why not??
We tried last night and it was a HIT! The only bummer was that she woke up at 6 and didn't know where she was. So, I put her back in her crib for a while.

The picture doesn't show it, but she is so teeny, tiny in her big girl bed!

Addie-isms of the Day

"If I can sit on it, it is meant to be ridden ALL over Target. When mommy says it's time to go, I'll scream and let the WHOLE store know I'm pissed."

"If my juice cup is half full, I can hold mommy's hand and be a 'big girl' and walk mommy to the fridge. I will make her open it and I'll point to the juice, and she'll fill my cup all the way up."

I Love My Girl

She's got character. Right?
She likes to have her blanket over her head. This particular time she is enjoying some juice.
She cracks me up every day. I LOVE it! When she says "mama" to me, my heart melts. She likes to be a big girl and hold my hand instead of me carrying her (sometimes...).
She is going to love being a big sister. She changes her doll's diaper, gives the doll a binky, wraps Dolly up in a blanket (I swaddle Dolly for her) and she rocks it and says, "shh, shh."
I am so proud of her and all her accomplishments, BUT who gave her permission to grow up??

PS: The baby is moving a lot! I love every little flutter. We find out in 2 weeks what we are having! I can't wait to see the little baby! And I have growing pains...I forgot those hurt.

I feel like this today

A little bit gross, a little bit crazy and a little bit mad.

Can you tell we have been stuck in the house and watching Sword in the Stone wayyyy too much?

Also, the little sproutlet has been kicking a ton! I am only 17 weeks, and I have been feeling the little pokes for a while, but the last two days I have really felt an increase. I love it! It helps me feel more like Cinderella (or Ariel...I can't be the only one a teeny bit jealous that she looks that good...)

Valentine's Day 2011

Picture One: Addie's Valentine's shirt I made for her (I got it from justdrinkacoke.blogspot.com)
Picture Two: Our Valentine's table.

Our day was uneventful (which I appreciate). We went to the store to get a few things for dinner, and that's about the excitement for the day.

Our menu for dinner was pink strawberry pancakes (colored with strawberry syrup) with strawberry in them. and strawberry milk. I forgot the bacon at the store... For dessert we had sugar cookies frosted with pink frosting. So good! (I did by the flowers myself. Not that Mike never gets me flowers, but I wanted them. He pays for it, so its like he bought them for me)

Addie went down a little early. Mike ran to the store and got us some Cool Ranch doritos (nothing more romantic, right?). We sat and watched TV (yeah you read that right. The Huskinson's splurged and got an antennae and a digital converter box). We watched the Bachelor, which is like fingernails on a chalkboard to Mike, I am sure. So we flipped between that and skiing. Then bed by 10:30. We had a good day.

What can you make for $2?

Here is my new wreath! Katie taught me how to make it.
It is a $2 project!
I am going to make some colored ones for Adelaide's room.

Only caution: when you get to the end, turns out you can burn your finger really bad with the hot glue.

Katie's Visit

On Wednesday evening my cousin Katie came to visit! She brought her cute little Rose (Who is walking!! When did our babies grow up??)
Thursday we went to the zoo. It was Rose's first trip. Addie loved it as always. Rose seemed to enjoy the otters, which Addie told her she would. And Rose growled at the sleeping bears. I chased Addie around the zoo; Rose sat so nicely in the stroller. After, we stopped at Dick's for some burgers, fries, soda and shakes. The girls slept in the car so we just chatted it up!
Time for a disclaimer: I love ALL my cousins. Growing up I was the oldest of the younger cousins and Katie was the youngest of the older cousins. There is a 4 year gap between us, so we were never really super close growing up. I remember how badly I wanted to a part of the older cousins, but I was too little. It is nice now that we are older and going through the same things in life, to be friends! I love being friends with family. Its really nice to have an extended family member that you are close with. I want that with more family.
Thursday night we put the girls to bed and Mike stayed home and we went to Target.
Friday we went to Nordstrom Rack. Thanks to some convincing from Katie, I bought some lovely black peep toes. The girls put as many shoes as they could reach in the cart. Addie threw a huge fit (which was awesome) so we left for another quick trip to Target. Lunch at Panera Breads. We got home for naps and we crafted. Mine isn't done but it will be today and I'll put it up here later.
She left this morning.
It was so fun to see them and have the girls play so well together.

PS: Addie is dancing right to "Under the Sea." She loves The Little Mermaid.

Mike's Job

Ok- last rewrite. I think this is the third one. I just feel like I can't quite get it right. Here goes:
When Mike lost his job last May, we were worried to say the least. We really wanted something that would take us out of Seattle. We love it here, BUT we would really love the eastside of the state or Idaho, Utah or elsewhere. (We were also really interested in a job...) A few things came across that interested us and could move us, but never really materialized. And to be honest some of those opportunities just didn't feel good.
Then he found a job a month later (BLESSING!). While we were glad he had a job, he wasn't super happy there. It was an uphill climb every day. Just before Thanksgiving, we had a job opportunity fall into our laps. We decided to look into it. It was a great opportunity, so we went for it!
So far, we have been so happy with this choice. Mike is a lot happier with this line of work. He jumped industries just a little, but still in the construction arena. And there are a few perks also (Prius, dinners, bowling, some trips...)
We would still like to be in the country, we love this job and the opportunities that are available with it. We are really grateful for it. And that I am able to stay home.
(How many times can I use the word opportunity??? 4... Not a ton, but I feel like I used it every other word... Sorry)

In other news: my cousin comes tonight! Doctors appointment tomorrow. I get to hear a little person's heartbeat. I have still been feeling just a little bit of movement. I can't wait until it increases. Zoo later tomorrow! Friday we are crafting!

Also, can I just mention how much I LOVE sharing my snacks with Addie?!? I am serious. She always says "mama" when she wants something and she does this funny shifty-eyed thing. We got a Happy Meal today, and its so funny to watch her enjoy fries. (And maybe a little sprite....)

Brazilian

I ATE THIS LAST NIGHT!!
Its a baby octopus. It was in a salad with peppers, onions, avocados and cilantro. It reminded me of shrimp, but rubberier. And it tasted like cilantro. I COULD not eat the head though.
We went to Ipanema Brazilian Rodizio last night. A supplier for Mike's work took the owner, the project managers and the estimator out to dinner and the wives were invited.
Mike went to Brazil for his mission and so, of course, LOVES the food. He got a little picky...for a $60 dinner. But I guess after living there and getting better food.....
They bring around a ton of different kinds of meat and they cut off the rotisserie for you. My favorite was buffalo, garlic steak, and pecanya (you say it like pe-cohn-yuh).
We ate, and Ate, and ATE. For dessert we had roasted pineapple with cinnamon and sugar. SO GOOD! I was the last one eating.... I think I ate the second most, after Mike I think. Hey, I'm pregnant and eating for two, right??
It was so nice to go and enjoy a night out (on someone else's dime :) ) and have amazing food. And I love when Mike talks to the Brazilian waiters in Portuguese. I think its hot.

My Day- By Adelaide

Ok, since Mom spends so much time on this thing, I thought I would get in on the action. I am telling Mom everything to write, while I am eating crackers and cheese. Sorry, if I seem distracted, I am watching the Little Mermaid (my new favorite movie).

My day starts at 7:30. Mom usually makes me sit in my crib until 8 because she doesn't want to get up yet. We go down stairs and have breakfast which is usually fruit and cottage cheese. Today we had WAFFLES! Yum, I love those!
Next come bath time! Mom always puts lots of bubbles in there for me because I love them! I love to say "bubbles" but Mom and Dad hear it as "buh-boh." Then comes hair and clothes. Sometimes I get to pick out my own clothes! But I would much rather run around NAKED! Oh, I HATE having my hair done, but I love when Mom puts hair spray on my hair! Then while Mom gets ready, I like to re-arrange her bathroom cupboards.

About 10:15 we go downstairs and have a snack and watch a little movie. Or read. I love reading, and doing puzzles. Sometimes we clean the floors. I love to vacuum and sweep! I am such a big helper.

11:30 is LUNCH time! I love to eat mac-n-cheese! It's my favorite. Mom sometimes tries to make me a PB+J, yuck, those are awful.

Then we play until I get tired. I don't like to sleep very long as of recently. I only need 30 minutes of sleep, and I am good to go! (Usually I sleep for 2-3 hours.) Mom doesn't seem to agree though. She leaves me up there sometimes.

Then, after my nap, we will go to the grocery store or target or just play!! I love my slide! I also love my drum and tambourine! I love to give Roxie loves and also chase her around the house with my dolly stroller. I lead the music when Mom sings.

About 5, I start to have a meltdown. I just miss my Dad, because when he walks in at 5:30, I am so happy!!
6:00 is dinner! I love spaghetti and green beans! I also really like chicken, potatoes, tomatoes, cheese and sour cream.

Sometimes we will go somewhere after dinner! I love shopping! Last night we went to the Museum of Flight! I pushed my friend Landon around in his stroller. He is super cute! I even gave him some kisses! After we went out for ice cream! I loved whipped cream! And the fries dipped in ranch were so yummy! Last night I stayed up until 10 and I was so good!

Usually I go to bed at 8:30. We brush teeth, wash my face, change diaper and put on PJ's. Then we read, pray and sing I Am A Child of God. Then I give mom and dad kisses and I go to bed. I need to have my bink and my hippo though! I then go back to sleep and wake up the next morning at 7:30 and we do it all again!
