For my birthday this year, I wanted to go to the beach.
I haven't been for three years.
Growing up we would go to the Oregon Coast a few times each summer. When we moved to Seattle, we quit going. We went three years ago for a week before Mike and I got married and Mitch left on his mission. My parents now live an hour and a half from the Oregon Coast, so we decided to head down to Seaside and Canon Beach for our Saturday. We had such a GOOD day!
Addie touching the anemones in the touch pool at the Seaside Aquarium. We also fed seals little chunks for fish.
Iconic Haystack Rock in Canon Beach.
Addie thought the sand was so fun to pick up, throw and put in her hair. She helped Mitchel demolish the sand castles he made. She also enjoyed throwing sand and rocks in the ocean.
Although she ended up loving the sand, she was so unsure about it at first.
I loved sharing the adventure with Addie. She was really good all day.
Addie and Roxie crashed out in the car 2 minutes after we left. The weather had been less than decent most of the week and the weather report said that it would be rainy. Luckily, although it was overcast, it did not rain once on us until we hit Portland on our way home. Mike and Mitch tried to fly a kite on a less than windy enough day. Addie climbed the huge pile of sand that we parked our lazy bums next to. Sand went all the way down her diaper. I relaxed. My parents enjoyed playing with Addie. Mitch and Marit went on the bumper cars in Seaside. We ate lunch at Doogers and had the best clam chowder ever. In Canon Beach, I ate the best cinnamon roll. It was really one of the best days that I have had in a while. I loved spending it with my family. The only person that was missing was Makenna.
Next time we go to the beach, we will have another little person to clean sand off of!
